Today, we are faced with a pending catastrophe. So much carbon has been pumped into our atmosphere that it is causing climate change. While some people still deny this, the vast majority of the world’s scientists have affirmed it again and again. The information they are giving us paints a very grim picture for our great grandchildren-a world with incredible suffering.

We believe that we all have a responsibility today, both as human beings and as Jews, to do whatever we can to slow the rate of climate change, to preserve our world for future generations.

We are hoping that many people in our community feel the same way, and we are inviting you to join us for the People’s Climate March NYC, on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Manhattan near the U.N.

This event will coincide with a meeting of world leaders at the UN in preparation for negotiations toward a treaty on climate change later this year. It has the potential to be a game changer by focusing the world on an enormous problem that has yet to get the attention it requires.

We will be marching together with the Jewish Climate Change Campaign, alongside other faith communities, labor unions, and environmental groups. Our Interfaith contingent will meet at the Newkirk Plaza subway station at 11:00 a.m. and take the train to 57th and 7th where we will walk to the faith-based organizations staging area at West 58th between 8th and 9th Avenues.
